Women in the Civil Service
Figures from April 2009 show that:
- There are about 520,000 employees in the Civil Service, 490,000 of these worked full-time
- 33 per cent of Senior Civil Service staff are women
Figures from March 2008 show that:
- 52.9 per cent of permanent civil servants were women
- 31.8 per cent of Senior Civil Service staff were women
- 52.5 per cent of the women who work for the Civil Service work in the administrative grades
- The median earnings per annum for men were £24,130 compared to £20,750 for women
- The gender pay gap for full-time staff was 14.0 per cent
