But have you noticed that already there seem to be fewer women's voices?
The 2010 General Election campaign was notable for the absence of high-profile women politicians and commentators from the headlines. Women featured as wives and WAGs, but were largely ignored as political voices in their own right.
The Counting Women In coalition believes that unless women (and men) act, women's voices will be silenced again. Our special 'Welcome to Election Year' event at the Southbank Centre on Monday, 19 January, at 7.30 pm will give us the chance to let the political parties and the media know that we will be watching.
We will be asking politicians, journalists and campaigners to talk about what they're going to do and we will be launching a series of actions we can all take to make a difference.
Our first confirmed speaker is the fabulous Laura Bates of Everyday Sexism fame, and others will be announced soon. Tickets are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment. Everyone attending will be helping to make sure that women don't go missing again from our election!
