Today marks 100 years since the first International Women's Day was held in New York in 1911. Since then, women have come a long way, at least in the West, but there's still a long way to go for all of us, and, for our sisters in some parts of the world, the journey has not even begun.
CFWD will be marking this special week by publishing our online collection of women's quotations on Friday 11 March. We've found hundreds of quotes from women around the world, many of them new and all of them memorable. It'll be at In Our Own Words and will be the foundation for amuch larger collection which will continue to celebrate the fact that women have something to say, and that when they say it is as worthy of remembrance as the volumes of quotes from men!
