Is your organisation looking to increase democratic participation amongst women in your area? Are you interested in
developing new ways of engaging women in community or public life? Or is yours a democratic body which needs to broaden the
base of its representation?
If so, the Centre for Women & Democracy can help!
We are an organisation dedicated to increasing the participation of women from all communities and backgrounds
in all levels of the public decision-making process in this country. We know that women are under-represented - but we think
it's time to stop discussing the problem and start addressing the solution.
Our expertise in the way our democracy
works, coupled with our knowledge of political structures and local and national organisations means that we are uniquely
placed to help you make a difference in your organisation and community. Amongst other things we can:
- help you and your organisation to develop strategies to broaden the engagement of women across all sections of
the population
- run consultation exercises and focus groups to help you identify the key barriers
to participation for women in your area or organisation, and what practical actions you and others could take to address
them
- run training sessions and schemes, including 'Women Into Public Life' courses and sessions
for community activists, school governors etc on local and national democracy and politics (sometimes it's surprising
how little people know about how their society is run!)
We would be happy to discuss your specific requirements with you - if you would like to know more, or would like to meet
us to explore what the possibilities are, please contact us at: Email: cfwd@cfwd.org.uk
