Nan Sloane - Director

Nan Sloane set up the Centre for Women & Democracy in 2006 to work on women's political engagement and participation. Since then she has conducted research and published reports on a range of issues, including leadership in local government, women in elections, and the effect of policy on women in decision-making roles. She has given evidence to various inquiries, including the Speaker's Conference and Select Committees.

She is an experienced trainer and facilitator, working both in the UK and abroad. She has delivered workshops and training courses on a variety of subjects, including political development and leadership skills, in the Balkans, in Middle East and North African (MENA) countries, as well as in Ghana and Botswana.

In 2016 Nan edited 'In Our Own Words: A Dictionary of Women's Political Quotations' for CFWD. She is currently writing a book about women's involvement in the early Labour Party (to be published September 2018).
