How Political Parties Work

Why do we have political parties? How do they work, and what are the rules governing them? How are they funded, and what other options are there? Who runs them, how many members do they have, and what do they actually do? How do they choose their leaders and their election candidatates, and how do they decide what their policies are? How do you choose which one to join, and if you do join one what’s involved and what does it cost? And would our democracy work without them?

This 2-hour workshop answers these and many other questions, and offers participants the chance to develop a much better understanding of how political parties in the UK work.
